Although I had a rough day on Tuesday with it not being my first day of school since preschool, Friday ended up being the spoonful of sugar I needed! Allison's first day at St. Ann's went swimmingly! She started the morning with, "I cannot believe today is my first day of preschool!" and ended with her saying that about a dozen times (no exaggeration). Upon dropping her off, she pretended to be coy... that didn't work so she resorted to her bubbly self and asked me to take a picture of her with her teacher. After that it was simple. Bye Mom. Kiss. Wave. Turn around. Keep Calm. Carry on at preschool.
And just like that my daughter became a student! So much of me wanted to tell her she'll be dreaming of school supplies every August for the next thirty years... Then again I didn't want her to feel doomed, that she'd still be a student like her mom at 33! What can I say!? I love school and want to go to school forever. I want to buy new folders and right out of the box crayons and try to make educated guesses on which glue was stickier. I want 4 brand new outfits to last the first week (I get deprived of an outfit due to starting the Tuesday after Labor Day!). I also want the first day jitters forever!!
Back on point to Allison at preschool. I picked up her with high expectations, hoping she was dazzled by all the new toys, supplies, and friends. I do believe that she had a most fantastic day by her smile and her sweaty hair matted to her shiny face that no longer looked like I "did" it. Not to mention she was still on the kick of interrupting my questioning with, "Mom, I just cannot believe I just went to preschool!"
So, all in all, I think I have bred a future school lover, glitter glue appreciater and a lifelong learner! Yesss I did something right!
Needless to say my depressing thoughts from the days prior about not teaching dissipated and were replaced with joy, pride and contentment.
(Note: Allison gave me the letters to hold to make my initials! smarty pants!!)

(Notice the hair! Let's just say she's going for a Taylor Swift look...)
