The Good Mother Myth: Redefining Motherhood to Fit Reality Quotes

I am going to add quotes from the book I'm readingThe Good Mother Myth: Redefining Motherhood to Fit Reality by Avital Normal Nathman because I'm afraid I will forget them. These stories of motherhood have resonated with me on so many levels. Such a good read! Shannon Drury (in regards to having anxiety issues): I was sufficiently motivated to seek appropriate treatment, as my usual coping mechanisms of alcohol, sorrowful alt-country albums and furiously self-indulgent journaling (blogging!) were no longer available to me as a new mother. Kimberly Morand (in regards to her colicky son): My nerves were frayed raw, and I found myself lost in rapidly changing waves of anxiety and anger. It felt like 500 television channels were all on at once and I couldn't turn them off. It made decision making absolutely impossible.

Best I can do is the new 'perfect'

You can be organized in motherhood. It just looks different than it used to. I looked at my desk like this and had to snap a pic. I found irony in it because that owl 'stay organized' file folder is from when I taught. Clearly I was more organized back then. Even though now I have the time to be more so at home. Yet, I didn't consider myself very well organized as a teacher and most fellow teachers wouldn't have either but in retrospect, hindsight is 20/20, I made it work for me and my students.  I took a look at my day planner filled with special love scribbles all over my notes and have to smile... really all that matters is that everything gets done in due time and as long as there's not too much hustle bustle, chop!chop!chop!, and more smiles than tears and I think we're coming out on top!!   On a brag alert note: here are some pics of the loves of my life lately!!!!
